Date: February 1682
This Shinto katana was made by the 2nd generation Toyoyuki, of the Takata group of Bungo Province. The signature reads: ‘Toyoyuki, of the Fujiwara clan, (made this)’.

Type: BUKE ZUKURI
Saya: wood decorated with red/black striated lacquer. Black lacquer kuribata, kojiri of patinated copper
Tsuka: same, bound with black silk, over wood
Fuchi/kashira: patinated copper
Menuki: gilded metal in the form of naginata
Tsuba: iron, of mokko shape, with gold inlay. The obverse depicts clouds, grass and crescent moon; the reverse clouds and grass. Dimensions: 8.2 x 7.7 x 0.2 cm
