This is a katana blade made during the Showa era.

Overall length: 85.8 cm
This style of mounting is often associated with the Satsuma Rebellion period (1877), when many arsenals were manufacturing practical fighting weapons from ‘odds and ends’ to arm the common soldiers of the rebels. Swords mounted in this cheap makeshift way are not uncommon, however this hilt was probably fitted in the post-World War II period by a collector.
