YEARBOOK 1894 to 1895

H1991.31

Soft bound yearbook about Western Australia. The following information appears on the front of the yearbook in faded black ink: "WESTERN AUSTRALIAN / YEAR-BOOK / FOR 1894-95", small print below the above states: "(NINTH YEAR OF ISSUE)". Below this in bolder print is the author's name: "MALCOLM A.C. FRASER". Underneath his name is his title of Registrar General and his qualifications in small print. Below this there is an etched diagram of the Royal Coat of Arms. The remaining small print is the place of publication (Perth), the printer and the date of publishing (1896). The contents of the yearbook cover topics concerning Western Australia such as statistical, geographical and financial. The first chapter is very interesting because it outlines the history of Western Australia since discovery. It also lists the passengers who embarked on board the Parmelia which along with the H.M.S. Sulphur were the first ships to sail to the Swan River Colony. There are also numerous charts and coloured maps throughout the book. The yearbook was found along with other items in a time capsule at the Geraldton Courthouse.
