TAXI SIGN

H1991.189

Electrically illuminated TAXI sign. Tied to taxi roof at front of cab. Fixed by two bolts either through the roof itself or onto a metal rack. Black plastic letters "TAXI" glued to translucent backing. This backing held by two screws into a hollow white plastic frame which contained an electric light bulb (12v), a wire led inside the cab to a switch which was operated by the cabbie. At night the sign was lit if the taxi was empty and left dark if the taxi was engaged for day or night use.
