'LETRIK' HAIR COMB

H1993.7

Rectangular cardboard box with paper hinged lid covered in brown crocodile pattern paper and lined with light blue paper. Top of box has 'LETRIK / HAIR COMB' in fancy script in left hand corner. Inside box are two identical instruction sheets 'DIRECTIONS FOR USING / THE / LETRIK / COMB / LETRIK LTD / BUTLER ST. & MILTON ST. / LONDON, E.C.2.' The comb consists of a black plastic cylinder with metal screw-on caps at each end, the metal connecting to a double row of wavy metal teeth about 2.5 cm. long. A battery is placed in the cylinder and the electric current flows through the teeth causing the hair to crinkle as the comb passes through it. The instructions recommend using the comb for at least five minutes morning and night. Part of a large donation of domestic effects from the family of Mr and Mrs Osterberg who came from the Eastern States to settle the estate.
