Electric iron made of three parts, a flat metal plate, metal base and black plastic moulded handle. The base is flat at the back and curves towards a point at the front. The plastic handle has a heel rest at the back with 'STAND-N-STORE' moulded into the plastic and an electrical cord covered in fabric with a three-pin plug covered in plastic attached to the end. The front of the handle has a metal plate temperature gauge with 'WASH AND WEAR', 'WOOL', 'COTTON'. In the centre of the base is a metal label with the common 'GENERAL ELECTRIC' logo and 'WASH AND WEAR' and a list of textile materials. Engraved on the back of metal plate is 'GENERAL ELECTRIC/230/1100 WATTS-50/60 CYCLES-NO/240V/TM OF GENERAL ELECTRIC CO USA-MADE IN AUSTRALIA 4 LBS'.

Small, rectangular, three leaf-fold, green and black printed on white textured paper, instructional booklet. Title on front reads 'HOTPOINT/AUTOMATIC DRY IRON/CARE AND INSTRUCTION CARD' underneath graphic picture of an iron and 'MALLEYS HOMEMAKER PRODUCTS/4511-29' with logo printed along bottom edge. Inside contains iron instructions, list of service centres in Australia, and warranty card. Back contains

Rectangular, six sided, with fold down lid, cardboard, covered in white paper with graphics printed in black/red. 'HOTPOINT', 'RED/SERIES' in red circle, 'Automatic Iron' and 'Dry' printed on front, back, proper right side and top. Front and back have graphic picture of an iron. Proper left side has 'Heats in 30 seconds!/A featherweight of only 2 1/2 lb/and smooth action/makes easy work of ironing'. Proper right side has 'MALLEYS HOMEMAKER PRODUCTS/IDP1'.
