HANDLE, for Sailor's kit bag
H1989.976
Brown handle is basically a double strip of leather to which a handle has been attached, possibly by metal rivets. At the peak of the arched strip section, there is a stud which holds a small square patch of leather and a metal washer to the underside of the handle. Between the ends of the handle section and the end of the strip there are two leather loops through which ropes, tied around a kit bag, can be fastened, making the carrying easier.
