H1989.70

Wide shallow wood and metal cylinder sealed at both ends with skins. Cylinder rims braced with metal rods. Painted on the blue cylinder of the drum is the emblem of the band "ALBANY / [lyre and crossed horns motif] / BRASS BAND" in a gold scroll. Two white painted wooden bands encircle the cylinder of the drum. The metal rods have adjustable screws to tighten the skin across the batter head of the drum. This instrument was used by a member of the Albany Brass Band in Western Australia. Ray Larner, Music Director, WA Bands Assoc., ph: 457 1858 assisted in identification of instruments.
