HORN, Tenor, E flat
H1989.66
Silver plated brass tenor horn. Length of intertwined tubing with integral pistons, finger holds and a water key. The tube ends in a bell mouth. Engraved on the top of the bell mouth is "Imperial / Class A / [an eagle clutching a trumpet motif] / Boosey & Hawkes / Ltd / Makers / 295 Regent St / London W1 / 168457 / 19". This indicates it was the best quality the company produced. This instrument was played by a member of the Albany Brass Band in Western Australia. This instrument has consecutive serial numbers with H89.67 & 68 indicating that they were all bought at the same time, probably in the 1930s. Ray Larner, Music Director, WA Bands Assoc., ph: 457 1858 assisted in identification of instruments.
