[.a] pokerowrk machine; Called the Alpha poker work machine. Consists of a black crackle finish metal rectangular box with a black plastic handle on top. The front is chrome and has two screw in points to which the poker cord is attached, a bulb to indicate whether the power is on, a black plastic switch which can turn between three raised metal contact points, and a hole through which the power cord runs. On the top, in front of the handle, are two chrome clips which hold the poker when not in use. On the back a metal plate is inscribed : 'ALPHA / POKER WORK / A.C. POWER SUPPLY / SPECIFICATION / No. T / TRANSFORMER OUTPUT / 2.5 V - 40 W / LINE VOLTS 240 - 50 CYC.- / MANUFACTURED BY / ALPHA ENGINEERING CO. PTY. LTD. / SYDNEY'. Underneath is a transfer label with 'ALPHA' written in gold on a red background and 'MADE IN AUSTRALIA' written in black on a gold background. There are three metal feet with perished rubber bases. There is a small hole where the fourth was. The power cord for the poker runs from the top front of the power box and is two separate cords twisted together. It goes in the end of the cork handle of the poker. The handle is long and cylindrical in shape. At its other end is a metal tube which holds two separate tubes. To each of these is attached one end of the needle which is shaped like a bracket symbol - }. The power cord is attached to the bottom of the front face of the power box. It is in one piece with a woven sheath. A plastic plug is attached to the end. This is labelled 'RING-GRIP / 10 AMP 250 V / MADE IN AUSTRALIA'.

'THE "ALPHA" POKER WORK MACHINE / APPROVED BY THE SYDNEY COUNTY COUNCIL/ A / Guaranteed / Product /Made / in Australia' Then follows a drawing of a person using the machine. Underneath this is '240 Volts A.C. - Output 2 1/2 Volts - 40 Watts / Four different shaped needles are provided for various classes of work, / viz.: FINE, MEDIUM, COARSE and a needle for shading. / Three different degrees of heat may ? ? ? burning ? / Clips are provided to hold the handle when the machine is ? / on, but not in use, and a red pilot light indicates that the ? switched on. / NOT TO BE USED ON ? CUR?' F.P. ROGERS is stamped three times on the label. The box is cardboard covered with blue paper and with the label stuck on one end.
