Combination vacuum cleaner and floor polisher with range of accessories. Upright syle. Consists of a motor unit on wheels (.1), barrel shaped, with a metal sign inscribed 'MUP* (?) TYPE MPM/ No. 360..../ Watt 220/ Volt 230/250'. Two accessories attach to the front of the motor. Motor contains ceramic (prob.) core. The vacuum nozzle (.2) cast metal with flared end (33.5cm) and bristles, bears a prominant metal sign on front inscribed 'SILOVAC' with a lightening bolt motif above. Below, the words 'MADE IN GERMANY', are obscured by a sticker, the remnants of which read '....SOLE AGENTS.../ WESTERN AUST.../PER...'. The same metal labels appear on the floor polisher attachment (.3), a drum-shaped bristle-covered roller with its own motor, mounted in a cast metal body.
The device is operated using a long detachable handle (.4), around which the cord can be wrapped for storage. The cord is modern type-grey synthetic polymer - and is certainly a replacement for the original cloth covered cord. The cord is not hard-wired into the device, but is plugged in with a two pin plug similar to those seen on electric jugs switch on handle of device.
A range of other accessories come with the device:
(.5): Brush attachment - wood, painted black, with black bristles and metal sleeve for attaching to hose - 23cm wide.
(.6): Metal nozzle - narrow - 11.5cm at mouth.
(.7): Metal nozzle - wide - 22cm at mouth.
(.8): Narrow, flat chrome nozzles with closed end and slots close to end.
(.9): Nozzle consisting of small wooden disk with three rings of bristles (mostly broken off) and metal neck - 8cm diameter.
(.10): Hose attachment - flexible metal, flared at one end to fit onto motor - 278cm long,
(.11)-(.12): Stiff chrome attachments for hose.
(.13): Plastic hose attachment (plastic probably not original) with metal mouth.
(.14): Flange to fit attachments - notably hose.
(.15): Metal bracket, use unclear, painted black.
(.16): Triangular bent metal knob, with thread and 2 washers.
(.17): Cloth bag, with cast metal mouth, for dust. Hangs onto handle via a spring near top.
(.18): Printed leaflet showing cleaner in use and accessories. Since the parts illustrated are labelled by number with no key it appears that part of the leaflet is missing.
