Skirt of open weave muslin dotted with tufts of bright red wool; gauge to waistband; straight front, full back to accommodate 1860s style crinoline; placket closure at centre back with 1 cloth button; trimmed with black velvet ribbon looping up to centre front of skirt to form a bow, then down around hem lined with under-skirt of coarse open weave muslin, possibly later; handsewn throughout.
