(a) Black leather shoe with fawn felt and canvas (lining) on top. Fasten with pearl buttons. Label 'KEMBER & CO./ 151 KNIGHTSBRIDGE S.W.' Out of fashion by 1930's.
(b) In 3 pieces with brass pull ring. Marked for left and right shoes. Ref. Mansfield & Cunnington, 'Handbook of English Costume in the 20th Century', p.292. fig.189b.

Polished sole; technically Balmoral boots. Are formal. Made in London. Bottom was patent leather - has lost some of its gloss. Owned by somebody with money. Close to 1910.
