Dark brown leather with kid inner sole and hard leather sole. Rounded tow. Brown cotton binding on edges and ankle strap . Single pearl button. Small bow on front. Style of bow etc. suggests may be earlier than c1860. All hand sewn. Baby's shoe.

Additional information : supplied by June Swann, world authority on historic shoes visiting from UK, during her inspection of shoe collection 18th October 1993.
'Child's. Bronze leather ankle-strap shoe round toe. No heel. Hand-sewn. Straight (not right/left). Slightly worn. Silk bow on front. Brown silk binding to match pearl button. Internal backstrap stiffener of sorts. Red-brown leather inside back strap.
Linen or similar lining; white leather sock. Late 1850s.
