White muslin with panel of insertions, alternating m/c Valenciennes lace and m/c white work embroidery in centre of crown. Edged at front with double muslin frill (lace edged) at sides with triple frill at front. Plain rounded section at back, probably to cover, or enclose chignon. Probably originally had muslin or ribbon lappets hanging at sides. Ref. A.
