SAUCER
CH1979.608
Only very faint tinge of blue in glaze. Glaze appears very white. Very small portion of pattern in under-glaze blue. Remainder in over-the-glaze orange and medium blue enamel. Some highlights in mustard colour, repeated on rim. Chinoiserie pattern. Mark on base, painted in under-glaze blue: "X". Nairn number C \ 16. Nairn thought Coalport, ca 1815, but mark appears more like that of Bristol Porcelain factory, ca 1770-81. Fine, rather thickly potted piece. Does not match cup also numbered C \ 16 by Nairn.
