a. Cup. White glaze. Transfer pattern of flower sprays in orange and yellow on sides. Band at rim, inside and out, in under- glaze brown with over-glaze, hand-painted additions in blue, black, orange-red and gold. Patter number 9134 or 6 on base. b. Saucer. Matches a. but with two gilded bands surrounding band of pattern at edge. Mark printed on base in under-glaze brown: "OSBORNE \ (within circle) "TRADE MARK \ (sailing ship) \ ENGLAND \ (W) A.A. & Co.". Nairn number C \ 29. William Alsager Adderley and Co. Longton, 1876-1905 Mark with "&Co." in use 1886-1905. Ref. Godden, Encyclopaedia, 1964, page 24, number 49.
