Find us in the Perth Cultural Centre where we have two exciting kids programs on offer.

Banksia Woodland Wonderland

Find us inside the State Library of Western Australia

Welcome to our Banksia Woodland! Delve into the understorey of an amazing world, home to thousands of incredible, and unique WA plants and animals.

Join artist Chloe Flockart as she helps our Museum banksia warriors to create an art display for the New Museum. We need your help to create a mural of the banksia woodland that showcases the important, unique, and beautiful species that live right on our doorstep.

Banksia Woodlands are home to precious and threatened little critters like honey possums, sand swimming lizards, Carnaby Cockatoos, and carpet pythons as well as a wonderful array of banksia plants, kangaroo paw, native orchids, wattle and fungi (and so much more!).

Learn about our Museum's collections and the research work we do to preserve these habitats so we can protect these treasures for future generations.

This event is free but bookings are essential.

Build-a-Bug

A butterfly can taste with its feet, ants will tap each other with their antennae to talk to each other, and male stalk-eyed flies attract the ladies with their big round eyes...imagine if an insect had all these body parts. What do you think it could do?!

Join our Museum team to design your own insect. We want to see creative, amazing, and crazy insects.

Learn how the anatomy of an insect gives it its abilities and helps it to thrive in its environment.

Dates: Monday 1 October - Sunday 7 October
Time: 10am-3pm
Location: Museum in a Container, Perth Cultural Centre
Ages: 3+
