Remotely-Operated Vehicle under water

The crushing depths prevent people from delving far beneath the waves without some serious help from technology. The WA Museum has recently been involved in expeditions using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to help study the biodiversity of Western Australia’s deep sea from the Perth Canyon to the Northwest Shelf. The use of ROVs in marine science has provided a rare glimpse at marine life in the deep sea.

Dr Andrew Hosie, Curator in Aquatic Zoology, Western Australian Museum, will talk about these exciting developments and show rare footage of these exploration events.

Talk at the Old Co-op Building, Museum of the Great Southern, on Thursday, 12 April starting at 5.30pm.

Gold coin donation on entry and bookings are appreciated.
