Da Vinci was fascinated with the proportions, designs, patterns and structural uniformities he observed in nature.  Find out how da Vinci explored and experimented with simple, strong spherical shapes and construct your own impressive geodesic structure with building guidance and instruction from Andy Newman.

Let’s Move it! Move it!

Discover the principles behind da Vinci’s science; observing and recording things, moving things, balancing things, rolling things, dropping things, rubbing things, levering things, pushing things. A hands-on session full of activities from flying water rockets to constructing a wind-up pendulum clock. Make your own personal ‘Codex’, a da Vinci-type bound journal, and with guidance from artist Marina Baker, record your observations in your Codex, just like da Vinci!

Draw like da Vinci

A hands-on workshop where artist Marina Baker will help you discover the dynamic power of da Vinci’s innovative drawing techniques, composition and his ability to register human emotions and gestures. Marina has lived in Italy studying proto Renaissance art including, sfumato (softening the edges) and chiaroscuro (the effects of light and dark). Let Marina guide you from Medieval darkness to the Renaissance light!
