Child wearing Pirate Patch

ARRR me hearties, there are hidden treasures at the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton these school holidays with swashbuckling adventures on the high seas!

The Pirates’ Cove is a place of activity, discovery and lots of fun for pirates of all ages.

  • Burying the Booty - a pirate’s game to test yer strategy, cunning and skill. Who can Captain Anne Bonny really trust to help get her treasure safely to the desert island?
  • Flying the Flag! – pirates were known at sea by the type of Jolly Roger they flew. Find out about this notorious flag and create your own.
  • Who’s who? Pirates and their flags – match the pirates with their Jolly Roger.  What does a Jolly Roger with a red background mean? Who would fly such a flag?
  • Arrr! So you wanna be a pirate! – try your hand at the skills needed to be a crew member on a pirate ship, including testing your sea legs, setting a course out to sea using a compass, and walking the plank. Will you be good enough to be the captain, or just one of the motley crew?
  • Thar be Puzzles to share with your scurvy crew.
  • The Picture Perfect Pirate – dive into the dress-up box and deck yourself out as the perfect pirate. Don’t forget to bring yer camera!
  • You’ve chosen yer costume, now get yer swashbuckling pirate’s name. Will it be whimsically wacky or rudely reprehensible?
