Mark has spent the majority of his life chasing fishes throughout the Australasian region and has co-authored numerous fish identification guides including “A Field Guide to the Freshwater Fishes of Australia”. Mark’s primary research interests are the ecology, biology and taxonomy of freshwater fishes of Australia-New Guinea, having completed his Ph.D. on anthropogenic impacts on fish migration in freshwater systems of south-western Australia in 2016. He previously worked at Murdoch University in the Freshwater Fish Group & Fish Health Unit before joining the Aquatic Zoology team at the Western Australian Museum in 2015. Mark is responsible for the day-to-day management of the State’s fish collection and associated databases. He also contributes to field expeditions, public outreach, and educational programs.
