Fun at Home - Ngurlarl (wedge-tailed eagle) Mask What animal is still around after 500 million years? Wajarri speakers have always known the wedge-tailed eagle as ngurlarl* (ng-url-arl) and day as thuri*. Discover what makes ngurlarl such a good hunter during thuri as you create your own impressive ngurlarl mask. Time to do and skill level: 20 minutes to 1 hour. Easy - but adults may need to help. You will need: A4 print out of ngurlarl mask template pdf, complete with additional information. PDF Download If possible, print on white card 120 – 200 gsm. Coloured pencils or pens Scissors Sticky tape or stapler About 50cm of hat elastic Hole punch Instructions Step 1 Read the information supplied on ngurlarl and research images of this thuri raptor. Step 2 Colour in the ngurlarl mask. Will it be a young juvenile or an adult? Step 3 Cut out along all dotted lines, including eyes, beak and the tabs for the elastic. Step 4 Fold along solid lines of the tabs for elastic. Step 5 Punch the holes and attach tabs to the back of the mask, lining them up with the eyes as indicated. Step 6 Thread the elastic and secure with the sticky tape. Step 7 Now you can be ngurlarl ready to ride high in the sky on the warm thuri thermals.
