FameLab Academy ONLINE LIVE! What is FameLab? It is increasingly important in science to be able to communicate your work to a broader audience. FameLab is the world’s leading science communication competition created by Cheltenham Festivals in the UK. The global competition finds and mentors young STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – researchers with a knack for communication to share their stories with the world. FameLab contestants are armed only with their wits and a few props to describe their research – the result is an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage curiosity and find out about the latest research. Your students will be part of the virtual audience at Cecil Andrews College, as twelve Western Australian students take to the stage to deliver short and sharp explanations on their chosen topic from Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths. Off-curriculum, contestants are armed only with their wits and props – this event will inspire your students and expose them to some of the current research happening around Australia, with a focus on communicating that research in creative ways. Topics will range from Dejavu to The Food of Tomorrow in this exciting interactive event. Your students will even have the opportunity to ask questions live and vote for their favourite FameLab Academy contestant! We are including with the FameLab program, a STEM professionals’ This is My Life presentation that showcases inspiring women in STEM, modelling an exciting future in STEM study and careers.
