The work is called In My Mother’s Arms and was made by Nyoongar artist Janine McAullay Bott as an homage to her mother.

Janine is a local Perth woman who has connections to the State's south-west. She started weaving after she moved to Hawaii and found a new way to express her connection to her Nyoongar culture and share her family stories.

In My Mother's Arms is made of palm fronds, agave and philadendron fibres.

Janine regularly exhibits in Perth through Artitja Fine Art gallery. In My Mother's Arms was purchased for the Museum with assistance from the WA Museum Foundation.
