An asylum seeker boat was donated to the WA Museum by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection, and earlier this year it was moved from Geraldton to the Museum’s Collections and Research Centre in Welshpool.

Here, it has been carefully conserved and prepared for eventual display.

The boat tells a significant Western Australian, Australian and international story – and the WA Museum is committed to documenting and sharing those stories that are an important part of our contemporary history.
