Revealing the Museum: Creating the Online Exhibition

Creating the Online Exhibition

Our young curators were presented with photographs and memories of Exmouth that early residents had shared with WA Museum staff.

They were asked to think about what these photographs meant to them, what they thought these photographs and memories could explain about Exmouth to other people, and what may be missing from them that was important to share with others about Exmouth.

WA Museum staff from the New Museum Project explained to the young curators how New Museum curators have been thinking about what it means to be Western Australian, and how we are telling the story of Western Australia using people's stories, images and objects.

New Museum staff shared their 'cross threads' model of exhibition content development with the students; the young curators used the same method to think about the materials presented to them, about what they knew about Exmouth and what they wanted people to now about Exmouth. Their cross-thread themes can be seen below.

Our young curators used their cross threads to create their own themed exhibition about their town of Exmouth, and the result is what you see here.
