The Endeavour build in Fremantle: The story of how the Endeavour Project was conceived and delivered - Maritime Sun 16 Oct 2011 2:00pm – 3:00pm WA Maritime Museum John Longley, Event Director Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships2.00pm, Sunday 16 OctoberNWS Shipping TheatreThe Endeavour was a unique project ... the like of which will probably never happen again. It is a story of blind ignorance as to the task that was to be taken on, the unique team that somehow came together to complete the project, the amazing amount of sheer good luck we had on the way and the way that the ship has far out-performed our expectations on many different levels.John Longley was the Project Manager and crewmember for Australia II's successful challenge for the America's Cup in 1983. On completion of the unsuccessful defence of the Cup in 1987 John was charged with undertaking the construction of a museum standard replica of Captain James Cook's ship of discovery HMB Endeavour. This is the story of that project. This lecture is one of the WA Museum’s events celebrating the arrival of the HMB Endeavour replica to Victoria Quay. The HMB Endeavour is open to visitors each day between B and C Shed Victoria Quay, from Friday 14 October to Tuesday 1 November between 10.00am and 5.00pm with last entry at 4.00pm.
