Ancient Rome: Epic Innovators and Engineers is an exhibition featuring carefully reconstructed replica machines that reflect one of the most technologically significant times in the human history. Ancient Rome explores this fascinating era, with topics including: Military genius and mighty machines (Caesar’s army, discipline, tactics, war machines, armour, weapons) All roads lead to Rome (measurements, transportation by road and sea, communication) Building Rome (engineering - roads, bridges, buildings, monuments, aqueducts, tools, machines, techniques) Entertainment (gladiators, colosseum, games, art, clothes, timekeeping, Roman life and people) The Roman Imperial period (52BC – 476AD) was an era of massive construction and large scale technical innovation that brought about unprecedented wellbeing. Your students will be surprised to see how much we inherited from 2,000 years ago—many of the objects, concepts and machines are still part of our contemporary life. This exhibition includes models, catapults, frescoes, armour, weapons, busts, and much more. Scroll down or click through: Education Group Bookings Educational Walkthrough Primary Physics Publication Ancient Rome Teacher Preview Ancient Rome Challenge Education Group Bookings Dates: 7 December 2019 until 11 October 2020 Location: WA Maritime Museum, Victoria Quay, Fremantle Duration: 60 minute self-guided viewing sessions Cost: $7.50 per student and supervising adult Bookings: Advanced Booking & Payment Essential Curriculum Links: History, Physics We welcome bookings from all Year levels to visit Ancient Rome: Epic Innovators and Engineers. Bookings can be made and paid for online or by calling 1300 134 081. Advanced booking and payment is essential. There are no refunds for paid students who do not attend. Each exhibition session can cater for a maximum of 75 students. Students will be pulsed through the exhibition in smaller groups according to your supervision ratio. Learning Resources will be available on the night as well as the Museum education team for any questions you may have. Refreshments will be available for purchase on the night from the cafe. Please note: You may bring along a maximum of three guests. Proof that you are a teacher may be requested when you arrive. If more than one teacher is attending they will need to register separately. Global Challenge is an online learning platform that enables students to participate and complete a series of specific individual or collaborative team based learning exercises (referred to as Challenges).
