TABLE CENTRE, Embroidered

H1989.695

Oval table centre with crocheted, scalloped edges and a line of pink stitching at its inner edge. Bird satin stitched on a bough with leaves and blossoms at one end and on the other side a smaller sprig of leaves and flowers. Colours include yellow, blue, brown, pink and green. Stitching on front and back of piece is almost identically neat. Design of work was by a firm or person named Liberty. Table centre was made as a show exhibit and won many prizes including first at the Perth Royal Show in 1969 and helped exhibitor win aggregates at Waddington, W.A in 1956 and Bencubbin, W.A in 1960. Total number of prizes table centre earned: 7 first and 22 second. Certificates accessioned under H89.0996. More of Mrs Wilson's embroidery accessioned between H89.696 to H89.700 and H89.734 to 738
