THROWOVER, Embroidered
H1989.696
Rectangular pale lemon organdie throwover with a lantern embroidered at each corner and hem stitched edges. Lanterns on opposite corners are identical, two hang from branches with satin stitched pink flowers, are outlined in yellow and have a black tassel at base with pink flowers over a green triangular shape. The two other lanterns hang from a green bough with pink zig-zagged blossoms, are outlined in pink and blue with a black handle and lines suggesting shadows. Each has a flower worked in yellow with green stitching beneath. Throwover was made as a show exhibit and won 23 first, 16 second prizes and one third prize during 18 years of showing. It was highly commended at the Perth Royal Show in 1964. Certificates accessioned under H89.0997. For information about Mrs Wilson and her work and details about shows see H89.0695.
