Short polished Daito long tachi steel blade. Gilt? brass tsuba of aoi-gata shape, with cherry blossom design. Tan, woven cotton braid ribbon, criss-cross woven around cream imitation 'same' giant ray skin handle. Ornate, brass? pommel with swivel loop on end through which is looped a long tasselled braid ribbon loop.
Army issue khaki coloured plain steel scabbard with polished tan leather combat cover.

This is the standard World War II army pattern. The brown tassel, when worn on any army sword, indicates occupation administrative personnel rather than combat troops.
