BLADE: Type: SHOTO.
Mei: 'mumei'. Nagasa: 57.3cm.
Sori: 1.5cm 'torii'.
Sugata: 'shinogi tsukuri', 'iori mune'.
Nakago: 13.5cm, two 'mekugi ana', 'suriage'. Kissaki: 'ko'.
Hada: appears to be 'masame/itame', but both grain and temper line are unclear due to the poor condition of the blade.
Hamon (temper outline): appears to be 'suguba'?; tip (boshi), return (kaeri) - unclear.
Form: ridge (shinogi) - high; ridge width (shinogi-ji) - med/narrow;
blade taper (funbari) - medium; back (mune) - med, 'ihore'.
KOSHIRAE (mounting):
Type: BUKE ZUKURI. Saya: black lacquer over wood, brown leather combat cover, one 'ashi'.
Tsuka: 'same', bound with black cotton, over wood, brown silk tassel. Fuchi/kashira: plain copper.
Menuki: gilt brass, each modelled as a cock and hen.
Tsuba: old iron, of 'kikugata' shape and design, with brass wire inlay. TANG: Suriage (long ago); shape - kiri; curvature (sori) - slight; filemarks (yasuri-mei) - unclear; back (mune) - hira flat; hole (mekugi ana) - two; signature (mei) - mumei.
