Saya: two shades of rust red and black lacquer over wood in an intricate banded pattern. Pocket for kodzuka
Tsuka: polished wood partially bound with black cord
Kashira: plain iron, with silver inlaid moon reflecting on grass inlaid with gold
Menuki: single large menuki of demon and dragon
Tsuba: plain black lacquer over wood, of cho-hokei shape. Dimensions: 4.0 x 5.5 x 0.5 cm
Overall length: 82.5 cm
A wooden guard is quite a rare occurrence, as it could not be relied upon to protect the owners hand.
