This wakizashi blade has been shortened at some time by approximately 5 cm, thus rendering the signature incomplete, but the title ‘Lord of Shimano Province’ and the first character ‘Dai’, of the name ‘Daido’, remain. Four generations named Daido used the title between 1624-1716, and the shape and characteristics of the blade indicate the 2nd generation, c. 1660. The signature reads: ‘Dai… (do), Lord of Shimano Province (made this)’. This name can also be pronounced as ‘Omichi’.
