Ensemble, black with red pinstripe French polyamide organza, designed by 'Ruth Tarvydas', Perth, Western Australia, 1985.

H2018.145.1-2

This ensemble is made from black, metallic, French polyamide organza with a feature red self stripe.

[.1] The jacket has a high round neckline and is fitted through the bodice. The garment has a central

closure through the front consisting of eight press studs. The placket features eight false,

fabric covered buttons in contrasting red, for decorative purposes only. The jacket has a waistband

with a contrasting horizontal stripe, with a peplum. The peplum is self-lined and the stripe is placed

vertically (but the stripe does not match up with the main fabric of the bodice). The front, left-hand

quarter of the peplum is cut-away. The long sleeves are slightly puffed at the shoulders and are

finished with a cuff that features a single horizontal stripe, and a single red fabric covered button

at each wrist (for decorative purposes), while the closure is a single press stud. A feature pocket

on the right side is shaped like a fan, and has a long, red scarf sewn in. [.2] The pants are a

high waisted, cigarette style. The central, front closure is a single fabric covered button in red

and a zip. The pants are unlined, and the stripe is place vertically.
