[1-3] Three large rectangular (rounded corners) white green and gold paper ‘EMU/ BITTER/ BEER’ labels. The labels have a white background with gold border. In the centre is a green oval design, with gold border and a red banner running through the centre. At the top in the oval is a gold circle with a black emu silhouette. Beneath this is ‘EMU/ BITTER/ BEER/ 4.6% ALC/VOL./ 750ML’. At the bottom written in a curve below the oval is ‘BREWED & BOTTLED BY THE SWAN BREWERY CO. LTD./ PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA’.

[4-6] Three medium rectangular (rounded corners) white green and gold paper ‘EMU/ BITTER/ BEER’ labels. Same design as above but the ‘4.6% ALC/VOL/ 750ML’ is of a larger font size. Text at the base is slightly different ‘THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY LTD./ 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE W.A. 6155/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRALIA’. All three have 5 narrow notches cut out of the top edge.

[7-9] Three small square (rounded corners) white green and gold paper ‘EMU/ BITTER/ BEER’ labels. Same as [1-3] with different measurements ‘4.6% ALC/VOL./ 375ML’.

[10-12] Three small square black green and gold paper ‘EMU BITTER’ labels. Top 2/3 of label is green, bottom 1/3 is black whole label has a gold border. Top section has a gold circle with black border and an emu silhouette inside. Below this is ‘EMU BITTER’. In the black section is ‘BREWED & BOTTLED BY/ THE SWAN BREWERY CO. LTD./ PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA/ 370ML’.

[13-15] Three small octagonal black green and gold paper ‘EMU BITTER’ labels. Same design as above but with different liquid volume ’13 FL OZ’. Also the gold circle has a thin white border, not black.

[16] Large rectangular black green and gold paper ‘EMU BITTER’ label. Same as [10-12] but with ‘EMU/ BITTER/ BEER’ inside the green section and different liquid volume ‘740ML’. Also the gold circle doesn’t have a border.

[17] One large rectangular brown green and gold ‘EMU/ BITTER’ sticker. It is a brown background with a central oval design which has a gold and white border. The top 2/3 of the oval is green, bottom 1/3 is black. In the green is a gold circle with emu silhouette above ‘EMU/ BITTER’. The bottom sections reads ‘BREWED & BOTTLED BY/ THE SWAN BREWERY CO. LTD./ PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA/ 26FL.OZ’. This is a sticker attached to a white adhesive backing.

[18-20] Three medium green and red paper ‘EMU/ BITTER’ labels. Labels have a circular design with a rectangular tab extending out each side. The circular design has a silver border with a red banner across the middle. At the top is a gold circular sunburst with a stylised emu inside. ‘SINCE/ 1923’ is written across each side. Beneath this is ‘EMU/ BITTER’ with a drawing of a bearded man in button up shirt with rolled-up sleeves holding a full pint of ‘EMU/ BITTER/ ALE’ in his right hand. On the tab to the left (printed vertically) is a barcode, recycle logo and ‘BEER BREWED &/ BOTTLED IN AUSTRALIA/ DRINKSAFE/ HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF W.A.’ One the tab to the right, also vertically is ‘375 ML/ 5c REFUND AT COLLECTION DEPOTS WHEN SOLD IN SA./ 4.5% ALC/VOL. Different text beneath the circle ‘375ML 4.6% ALC/VOL’ and nothing is printed to the left, but printed down the right side is ‘THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY LIMITED./ 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE W.A. 6155/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRALIA’. In bottom left corner is ‘D2’. Handwritten on the reverse in pencil is ’02.037’.

[27-28] Same as above but these have a gold border around the whole label, and around the central circle design. Also a different liquid measurement ‘345ML 4.6% ALC/VOL’ and ‘A0’ in bottom left corner. 5 small notches cut out of right side, and nothing written on reverse.

A thick black strip is printed down left with ‘DRINKSAFE’ logo, ‘RECYCLE’ logo and a barcode inside just out of the black section is ‘THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY PTY LIMITED, 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE W.A. 6155’. Printed down right side is ‘BEER 4.6% ALC/VOL APPROX 14 GRAMS ALC/BOTTLE/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRLIA’.

[39-41] Three large rectangular (landscape) red green and white paper ‘EMU/ BITTER’ labels. Labels have white back ground with a thick black strip down the left side. A central oval design is green with silver border and a red banner across the middle. Inside it at the top is silver circle with emu silhouette then ‘EMU/ BITTER (bitter is inside the red banner)’ above ’70/ YEARS/ SINCE 1923’. The ‘since 1923’ is on a red stripe which intertwines behind the ‘7’ and through the centre of the ‘0’. Beneath the oval is ‘750ML BREWED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA’ and a made in WA logo. Printed down the right side is ‘BEER 4.6% ALC/VOL APPROX 27G ALC/BOTTLE/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRLIA’. Down the left side outside the black section is ‘THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY LTD/ 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE. WA 6155’. Inside the black is the ‘DRINKSAFE’ logo, ‘RECYCLE’ logo and a barcode.

[42] One label, same design as above but smaller. Liquid measurement is ‘375ML BREWED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA’ and a made in WA logo. Down right side is ‘BEER 4.6% ALC/VOL APPROX 14G ALC/BOTTLE/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRLIA’. Printing on left side is as above.

[43-44] Two medium labels, same design as above but in a circle, not oval. A red green and silver stripe are across the top and bottom of the label. The black section is on the right with the same contents. Down the left side is ‘THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY LIMITED/ 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE. WA 6155/ PRODUCT OF AUSTRLIA’. And down the right outside the black is ‘BEER 4.6% ALC/VOL APPROX 14G ALC/BOTTLE/ [WA made logo] BREWED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA’. Liquid measurement is ‘375ml’ and printed beneath the circle.

[45-47] Three labels rectangular (portrait) same oval design as [39-41]. Black section at the bottom with same logos. Between the bottom of the oval and black section is ‘750ML BREWED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA’. Red silver and green stripe across top. Down right side is ‘BEER 4.6% ALC/VOL APPROX 27G ALC/BOTTLE’. And down left side is ‘PRODUCT OF AUSTRLIA/ THE SWAN BREWERY COMPANY LIMITED/ 25 BAILE ROAD, CANNING VALE. W.A. 6155’. [45] has ‘1993’ pencilled on the back.
