Silver, circular, British War Medal 1914-1918, with plain straight non-swivelling suspender riveted to medal. ‘6460 ER-WO 1 M.KOTT. 11 BN A.I.F.’ (recipients service number, rank, name and unit) impressed to rim.
Obverse; effigy of King George V with ‘GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND:IMP:’ in relief around edge.
Reverse; image of St George on horseback armed with a short sword trampling underfoot the eagle shield a shield of the Central Powers, and skull and cross-bones, representing death. Above this is the risen sun of victory. The years ‘1914’ and ‘1918’ to the circumference.

The riband of the British War Medal, which is missing from this medal, is orange in the centre, with stripes of white on each side and borders of royal blue.
