WOOL PRESS, double box

H1998.93

Wool press constructed from wooden planks. Double box. Metal springs and leaver are fixed on the exterior of box, at half-way point, on two opposite faces of box. Pulley rope threaded through two holes at tope of one side of press. Embossed on the rod of one leaver "P 17 A" and on the rope behind it "P 6". The leavers on the opposite side of the box have the same embossings. Two pieces of metal riveted to the upper box are embossed in upside down lettering "P 31" [only on one side of the box]. Metal bar, normally fastened to base of box, has come loose and is no longer attached to press.
