Avometer to measure the current and voltage of electrical circuits. It is basically a black box with a handle, and an arc- shaped viewing window with measurements and a dial on one face and an assortment of dials beneath. The dial is marked in "OHMS / VOLTS / & AMPS / D.C & A.C" and "M/W" and there are five bands of measurements. Below, are three knobs marked respectively "P / R / Q" and a fixed button with what appears to be "MODEL / 7". Within a border, "UNIVERSAL AVOMETER" and a division sign before a "2" on another knob which is used when measuring current and voltage only. The D.C and A.C switches are round, flat discs. There are two screws to a positive or negative outlet and between them, a "CUT-OUT / RESET" button, around the shaft of which is a spring. There is a detachable lid marked "BATTERY COVER", and a raised section marked "PRODS". On the rear is affixed a plate with "UNIVERSAL AVOMETER / WORKING INSTRUCTIONS / MODEL 7 / IMPORTANT" and includes the headings "GENERAL / AMPERES / VOLTS / OHMS / 10,000 AND 100,000 OHMS RANGES / MEGOHM RANGE / BATTERY REPLACEMENT / 10 & 40 MEGOHM RANGES / CAPACITY POWER AND DECIBELS". The maker is "THE AUTOMATIC COIL WINDER & ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CO. LTD. / WINDER HOUSE, DOUGLAS STREET, LONDON, / S.W.I. Pencilled near each of the three feet are the initials "KM"> b. and c. Two Eveready batteries, flattened oval shape, with blue cardboard top and bottom and silver coloured cardboard outside with "NO 703 / 4 1/2 VOLTS / EVEREADY / TRADE MARKS / BOUNCES BACK FOR EXTRA LIFE". There is the trademark of a numeral "9" with a cat jumping through it. The reverse is identical but for the last line which reads instead "RECOVERS POWER BETWEEN USES".
