[.a] DAGUERREOTYPE; photograph set in a brown, leather, box-like case with highly decorated gold-coloured metal frame around photograph section and faced opposite with dark blue/purple velvet embossed in a leaf design. The inner edges of the case are embellished with a decorative gold border. The front and back of the leather case are heavily patterned in a leaf design and within an oval area, at the centre, is a bunch of leaves and grapes. The case has two side catches, and there are gold borders around the outside edges of case. The image inside is of a double story weatherboard building with barred windows, outside the front door of which stand five men. Along both sides of the upper facade is printed 'BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES' and at the centre, 'ESTABLISHED1817'. The building is not the same as that on p.219 'THE PEOPLE OF PERTH. GEORGES TERRACE/ AND WILLIAM STREET, PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIAN (SIC/ THIS BUILDING WAS THE HEAD OFFICE OF THE W.A. BANK./ THE W.A. BANK WAS EVENTUALLY SOLD TO THE/ BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES.' The note is signed 'de B.'
