[a] SCROLL: "(Australian Coat-of-Arms) \ ADVANCE AUSTRALIA \ To \ Field Marshall Viscount Horatio Kitchener \ of Khartoum and of the Vaal \ G.C.B., G.C.M.G., O.M. \ May it please Your Lordship / We, the Mayor and Councillors, behalf of the \ Municipality of Albany & the Citizens thereof desire to tender you a \ Very Hearty Welcome on this yo Visit to your Port. / It is almost needless for us to remind you of the Geographical \ & Strategical importance of this Port by whic practically all the com- \ merce of the Commonwealth passes in going to & from the Eastern States in \ trade with all parts of the world; but we hope that after Your inspection \ you will be duly impressed by the great gifts which Nature has bestowed \ upon this the South Western Port of Australia possessing as it does a Perfectly Safe & Land-Locked Harbour with deep \ water & a Safe & Commodious Anchorage in King George's \ Sound. \ We sincerely hope & trust you will have \ a Safe & Pleasant Journey back to the Old Country. \ On behalf of the Municipal Council of Albany W.A. \ this 28th day of January 1910. \ Councillors, (8 signatures follow) \ A. Impressed with the seal of the Town of albany and illustrated with water colours of the old Post Office and Princess Royal Harbour in the left hand corner.
