H1994.108

Safety razor in oblong box covered with black leatherette. The box (1) contains the safety razor (2) and two boxes of blades (3 and 4). The base of the box is lined with purple velvet, a raised platform providing a seating for the razor handle. The lid of the box is lined with purple satin, and padded. The satin, now shredded, is stamped with the letter H contained within a diamond symbol with two circular marks centrally placed on left and right hand sight of the H. The safety razor is made largely of brass, with a finely crazed stem. The head plate lifts away for the placement of blades.
The boxes of blades are each of cast metal. -3 contains seven individually wrapped Gillette brand blades, each bearing the photo of 'King Gillette'; -4 contains six blades: four individually wrapped Gillette blades, one Smoothex blade and an unwrapped Perma-Sharp blade.
