TEMPLATE, Badgemaking

H1991.134

Template possibly used for small metal sign by Sheridan's For Badges. Zinc plates were used for templates in the 1960's to about 1975, then magnesium until around 1983 when acetate was used. The pattern on this acetate sheet is shaped like an elongated oval with blunted ends, at one of which two concentric circles are marked, the largest 2.8cm in diameter. Inside, in the outline of a diamond with straight borders, is a crest with "HARDLINES / KEY CLUB". Lines radiating from an invisible point at the base of the diamond, behind the crest and up to the outer borders, form a contrasting background to the plain surface of the crest. Marked on the perspex acrylic in black ink or texta, "ZU'ZU'S / NIGHTCLUB / CAST. / R=4 / 29.7.87". For details of the company see H91.0117. For other templates see H91.0119, H91.0132, H91.0133. As well as badges, among the objects made by the company are car number plates, metal police numbers, tokens, buttons, street and other metal signs.
