TRANSFER, Town of Albany

a. Hand done design for town of Albany transfer, typewritten label affixed reads "THE TOWN CLERK, ALBANY W.A. / COLOUR SKETCH OF PROPOSED TRANSFERS / DISTINCTIVE SIGNS TRANSFER SPECIALISTS". The design features a kangaroo and lion aside a shield with the cross of St George, above which is a crown. This rests upon a circular border with TOWN OF ALBANY / INCORPORATED 1851" and inside, a scroll reading "DEFENSIVE NOT OFFENSIVE / WA" above which are three boats and, below, within borders, a plough, pick and shovel, a locomotive engine and nuggets or boxes (cargo?). Attached by masking tape to the front is a clear plastic overlay. b. Transfer made from the above sketch with dull gold highlights and borders, and brown paper peel-off backing cut to the outlines of the transfer. c-e. Transfers made from a. with lighter gold colouring than b. and rectangular backing with "JAC" in a square pattern. For further information on Distinctive Signs see H90.211.
