TEMPLATE, Badgemaking

H1991.133

Template used for badgemaking by Sheridan's For Badges. Magnesium photographic plates were obtained by the company from West Australian Newspapers on which badge designs were etched in the mid 1970's to around 1983. On this plate, a woman in a blouse with a tie- neck and a man with glasses can be discerned. The other side has a plain green surface with a badge pattern etched on the upper half. At the centre is a marching girl within a circular striped border and in an outer border, "A. W. M. G. INC". The top is embellished with scrolls and a plain disc. For details of the business see H91.0117. Zinc plates were used for templates in the 1960's to about 1975, then magnesium until around 1983 when acetate was used.
