a. Badge in silver, blue and red having a crest or crown at the top with indistinguishable symbols. At the centre is a blue flag reading "BRITISH / SAILORS / SOCIETY / ESTD 1818". Set within red enamelling around the edge, "IN SERVICE FOR THE SAILOR". On the reverse of the badge, "MILLER / 118 / BRANSTON ST / B'HAM" is printed b. Jewellery box containing a. but not made for it originally. Wooden box has black, leather-look covering with a gold border around the edge of the upper lid. Inside, the base is lined with black velvet, and the lid lined with pale blue silk on which is printed in gold, "G. O. KOPP / FREMANTLE". The lid is hinged and secured by a press-to-release catch. A small hook protrudes from the velvet base on which,perhaps, to secure a chain.
