H1990.179

Cylindrical wooden pill box(a) and lid (b). Both the top of the box and the inside of the lid are threaded. (a)Below the thread on the box a line has been cut into the timber. There is a large paper label on the box with the following information typed in blue : "Mr John T. Blain, / Wyalkatch[em], / W. AUSTRALIA." The section in square brackets is missing. The typing is on dotted lines provided on the label. Printed on the bottom of the label in black is the following: "B11. / From WILLIAM S. RICE, Ltd., / 8 and 9, Stonecutter Street, LONDON, [T.C.A.]" the section is square brackets is very difficult to read. (b) On the outside of the lid is the remains of a red perforated stamp. The word "REVENUE" is visible in the top right corner, and the number "10" in the bottom right corner. Only the right side of the stamp remains and the illustration appears to be an oval shape containing something, with leaves on the outside at the bottom.
