LAPEL BADGE, Royal Australian Navy

Gold coloured badge with crown on top and crown and anchor in circular border at centre. Around the circumference, "RETURNED FROM ACTIVE SERVICE . ISSUED BY DEPT.OF NAVY". Between the crown and anchor are the initials"RAN". On the reverse, "1850", and in barely discernible print "Stokes Signs Melbourne". There are two projecting rings with pins with which to affix badge to a lapel. This badge was issued to all ex-servicemen before the medals were issued. Associated with W86.36.
