BADGE, HAT, Australian General Service

H1989.75

Roughly semi-circular hat badge. Central queen's crown, voided, with the rays of the rising sun emanating from it. Beneath the crown and the rays of the rising sun is a scroll with "AUSTRALIAN / MILITARY / FORCES" in raised relief on it. On the back of the badge are two lugs so that it can be attached to a hat or beret. The Australian General Service Rising Sun Badge has been in use since the turn of the century. As this badge has Queen Elizabeth II's crown in the centre of it it can not be any earlier than 1953. This badge was found in the drawer of Ken Rout's dental cabinet, Kalgoorlie, Sept. 1988.
